As part of L’Union des Marques acceleration program, Start-up Your Brand, Thomas Gicquel, CEO of Gimii (cohort 14), took part in a Q&A session.

Introduce your startup

Gimii offers a purpose-driven consent solution for websites and mobile apps, called the Consent Raiser, which helps increase consent rates while funding charities.
The concept: brands offer to make a donation to the charity of the user’s choice if they accept cookies.
The Consent Raiser doesn’t replace the CMP (Consent Management Platform); it complements it. The Gimii pop-in only appears in a second step—specifically to users who initially refused cookies.

What need does your solution address?

On average, across all websites, 41% of users do not accept cookies (Didomi, 2024). When consent is not given, page revenue is nearly 2.5 times lower (Pubstack, 2020) for ad-supported sites.
For advertisers, in a no-consent context, ad campaigns generate about 5.5 times fewer conversions (Google, 2024).
As these figures show, consent is key to monetizing advertising campaigns. However, it’s increasingly difficult to obtain due to user awareness and strict legal requirements.

Gimii directly addresses this challenge by helping websites increase their consent rates—rewarding users who accept cookies with a donation to the charity of their choice.

What makes you unique?

Unlike other existing solutions (paywalls, cookie walls, “accept or subscribe” models) that are restrictive and punitive, Gimii takes the opposite approach by offering a fair and positive solution where everyone wins:

  • Brands increase their consent rates, advertising revenue/ROI, and improve their brand image,

  • Users maintain free access to content and generate donations—without spending a cent—through their consent,

  • Charities gain visibility and recurring donations without lifting a finger.

What is your ambition?

Our ambition is to see the little red panda, Gimii, featured on as many websites as possible in France and around the world—to become the go-to solidarity reflex for internet users.
We aim to promote more responsible advertising and, through our solution, help as many charities as possible while delivering real value to both brands and users.
